Karmafloor Acoustic Multi Panel
Concrete Floor:
- Boards should be LEFT to acclimatise on site for a minimum of 24 hours before installation.
- Ensure the surface is flat and level. IF NECESSARY apply a suitable smoothing compound or levelling screed.
- Ensure the existing floor is dry BEFORE AND DURING INSTALLATION.
- It is good practise to use a 250 microns (1000 gauge) Polysheet vapour barrier.
- Leave the seams to overlap 20cm and seal with aluminium foil tape (with silicon/rubber glue)
- Ensure the surfaces of the base at the base of the perimeter walls are smooth, flat and free from dust or loose particles.
Timber Floor:
- Boards should be LEFT to acclimatise on site for a minimum of 24 hours before installation.
- Ensure the surface is firmly fixed, flat and level. If wooden floors are uneven please seek technical advice.
Installing
- Plan the laying of the total floor area avoiding wastage.
- Fix 5mm x 37mm Karmaplus Acoustic Perimeter Strip around the bottom vertical face of all perimeter walls. If the surface of the wall is uneven apply filler before applying the acoustic perimeter strip.
- TRIM THE EDGE SQUARE OF all boards that come into contact with the perimeter walls.
- Lay the first board with the soft fibreboard downside and the square edge against the acoustic perimeter strip, starting from the opposite corner from the door opening, ensuring the board does not come into direct contact with the perimeter walls.
- Apply PVAC or PU joint adhesive to the joint.
- Push the second board into the joint to form a tight fit with the first board, repeating along the length of the wall.
- Cut the last board to fit.
- Use any off-cut from the first row to start the second row or cut a new board to stagger the joints.
- Joints should be staggered by at least 40cm.
- Apply PVAC adhesive to the upper part of each tongue and the lower part of each groove of subsequent boards, pushing boards into position, working towards the doorway.
- Ensure all boards fit tightly together filling any air gaps with silicon or acrylic acoustic sealant.
An electrical circular saw with vacuum extraction is recommended for cutting.
